Amy Hoyle
What are your main duties and responsibilities?
I provide landlords with investment advice utilising our professional connections to other industries such as financial advisors, mortgage advisors and insurance brokers, to help them make informed decisions and reach success in the rental market.
I ensure landlords receive accurate information and advice including conducting valuations to determine the appropriate rental price for a property to maximise a landlord’s investment. I vet applicants, carry out viewings & reference checks to protect landlords and their properties.
By conducting fair negotiations and facilitating discussions, I create secure agreements which are mutually beneficial and I provide ongoing support to ensure that both landlords and tenants are fulfilling their responsibilities and can enjoy security and peace of mind.
I ensure that our landlords are legally compliant and use my expertise to assist with serving notices and legal proceedings that may be required, whilst minimising disputes.
As a part of the Pure Lettings team, I am always available to provide guidance and advice to colleagues to help navigate what may be a challenging situation. I oversee the day-to-day operations and work proactively to continually improve our offering and ensure our landlords and tenants receive an exceptional level of service.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day is always varied. I start by checking my emails and messages so that I can stay on top of new enquiries or matters that require my attention. This allows me to prioritise my workload and ensures that I can respond promptly by answering questions or addressing any concerns that may arise.
I’ll have appointments throughout the day that form the basis of my schedule. These might be valuations to assess the rental value of a property or viewings to show properties to potential tenants. I also carry out property inspections to make sure that occupied properties are being cared for and any maintenance or repair issues can be acted on.
Outside of these appointments, I spend my time completing the all-important administrative tasks that are needed to ensure our records are accurate and our operations run smoothly. This might involve updating property listings, preparing contracts and tenancy agreements, checking references for potential tenants, and arranging deposit returns.
How long have you worked for Pure Lettings?
I’ve been part of the team at Pure Lettings since 2016.
What do you love about your job?
I love that my personal values align so closely with our company values. This makes Pure Lettings an extremely positive and purpose-driven environment to work in. I have access to excellent resources that allow me to continuously expand my knowledge of lettings. This allows me to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and regulations. Building strong connections with my colleagues and having a leader like Trevor who fosters a healthy work culture has also supported my personal and professional growth. All these qualities combine to help me provide the best possible quality of service to our clients.
What do you enjoy about working with clients?
I work with landlords and tenants on a regular basis. I enjoy being able to make a positive impact on people’s lives by helping them to navigate the rental process and by creating harmonious tenancies.
How did you get into the industry?
I started my career in the industry in 2009, working at a large estate agency in Dartford as a letting negotiator. I then moved to a smaller independent agency in Bexley a year later. Although I started in a similar role, this is where I first gained experience in property management. I found this particularly rewarding and was promoted to Branch Manager. This role gave me more responsibilities, as I oversaw the entire letting department during my tenure there.
After four years, I was ready for a new challenge and, having recently become a mum to my eldest daughter, a better balance between work and family too. In 2016, I joined Pure Lettings as a part-time property manager and have loved being part of the team ever since. I’ve worked in a range of roles within the team and now work full-time with a focus on new business, though I still support my colleagues with existing business as required.
What are the most important skills for your role?
- Negotiation
Being able to skilfully negotiate on behalf of landlords and mediate between parties is the key to achieving positive outcomes for all involved.
- Strong communication
Effective communication is vital. You need to be able to manage expectations, solve problems, build trust, and maintain positive relationships with landlords, tenants, and colleagues.
Tell us a ‘fun fact’ that people won’t necessarily know about your role.
You get to see some unique and quirky homes! You might even end up going on unexpected adventures; I’ve had to crawl through tiny attics or navigate narrow staircases just to show properties. There’s never a dull day in the world of lettings.
Where do you live?
I’ve been living in Hythe since 2017. I love having the opportunity to experience the beautiful local coastline, to appreciate the area’s rich history, and to be part of such a friendly community. I’ve had lots of opportunities to connect with local businesses in Hythe and Folkstone, join in with community initiatives, and participate in local events.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I have two young children who keep me on my toes, and I love to spend my free time with them and my partner. I also volunteer as a coach at Tornados Gymnastics Club in Hawkinge, working with children between the ages of 4 and 11, helping them to refine their skills. I find it particularly rewarding to see them improve and fully enjoy their time at the club. Otherwise, I enjoy attending networking events so that I can meet people and learn from their experiences. You never know who you’ll meet next or what you’ll discover.
